Guidelines for Submission:
By adhering to these rules, authors will help us achieve one of the ideas implicit in our name, Torah Currents: quick publication of accepted pieces – hopefully within two weeks.
Essays and articles should be written at least at the level of a college paper.
All Submissions should be titled
Format: Microsoft Word
Font: 12-point Times Roman font
Language: English only articles. Hebrew sources can remain in Hebrew but must be translated. Alternatively, Hebrew words can be transliterated into Sefaradit or Ashkenazis – consistently used within a single essay, either is fine. As a general rule, essays analyzing a specific Torah text should include the entire text with an English translation.
Justification: Left Justify (with a ragged right edge) no full justification.
Spacing: single-spaced
Paragraphs should be noted by the insertion of an extra blank line.
Formatting: Bold, italic, underlines and ALL CAPS are acceptable.
Citations: Please follow these detailed rules carefully.
1. Notes must be indicated by bracketed numbers directly flush to the end of the last word of the cite, before any sort of punctuation (no spaces). See the following examples:
This is the correct way to cite a sentence[footnote#].
“This is the correct way to cite a quote[footnote#].”
2. All notes should appear as Footnotes, not Endnotes.
3. When quoting a block of text, use quotation marks as if quoting a single sentence. DO NOT format the quote as an indented paragraph without quotation marks.
Bios: First-time submissions must include a brief (2-3 sentences) biographical sketch indicating the author’s past and present educational and professional highlights along with his or her principal current activities and interests.
Photos: we are not including author photos at this time, but may do so in the future. You may include an email photo if you wish.
